One challenge I have about being in a marketing meeting is that people read the same business publications – books, magazine, newspapers. Then inevitably someone will quote Apple, Steve Jobs, Korean brands, Google, coloured body of water…whatever.
It’s great to draw on these case studies and examples. But if you draw the wrong conclusions and make the wrong assumption about these, you could be making very wrong decisions.
Use these stories as inspirations. If you want to use them to make a decision, make sure you know the history and background surrounding that decision in the case studies you quoted.
Look into the right things.
