Where is the top?

No one knows where is the top. The top is in your mind. And in your efforts.

Are you plateauing yet?

What counts in this life?

No, really.

What counts in this life? Just list five. For some people it takes all of five minutes to know this. Others take a lifetime.

If you have got your list, how much time and effort do you spend on them?

How will you make this life count?

What’s working for you?

Nothing wrong doesn’t mean it is right. Also doesn’t mean it is best. Of course, if you like to settle for mediocre, nothing wrong may be just right for you.

If you want the best, you have to keep pushing even if nothing is wrong.

What’s right for you?

How to improve yourself?

You want to improve yourself next year? Here are 2 simple things to do.

Decide and devote.

Decide what you want to change. Decision is a one-time action. Once you have decided, devote time and effort into that decision every day.

Best is to write it down. Then every week, look at that written decision. For some people, they feel motivated. For others, they feel guilty. Either way, I hope they spring you into action.

What’s next?

Is it time yet?

There is no right time. There is no wrong time. There is only decision time. Make the decision and then do it.

It’s as simple as that and as difficult as that.

Now. It is as good as it gets.

Is there ever a perfect time?

What’s your job?

How many times have you seen sales people blaming marketing people for not doing their jobs? How many times have you seen marketing people blame sales people for not doing their jobs?

Perhaps, one way to settle this is to see marketing’s role as to persuade the consumers to USE the brand. Sales’ role is to convince the consumer to BUY the brand. One takes care of the share of mind, the other the share of market.

Will this work?

Which one are you turning on?

Success depends on which one you turn on.

Which is your choice?

Are you intruding?

We had a call this morning. The caller wanted to know if we are able to increase their Facebook “likes” by xxxx% in x months because that’s what the boss wants.

We told the caller, there are tonnes of people out there who can do it with questionable tips, tricks and techniques. We went on to explain our house views on Facebook. You can read them here.

Interaction not interruption.

Don’t use technology to interrupt your consumers. Interact with them. Allow them to connect with your brand at a time of their choosing and their choice. Then you can deepen that relationship and when the time is right, they will recommend you to their friends.

Think why are you doing what you are doing? Is there meaning for the consumer? There must be meaning before marketability.

Have you been interacting?

What experience can teach you?

Life-changing happens when life threatening happens.

A clogged whatever.
An unexpected growth.
A spot on an x-ray that’s not supposed to be there.

HARD and RUDE. No way else people learn.

Are you even listening?

How should we discuss this?

It’s true that some people have lesser intellectual capability than others. It is also true that some have bigger egos than others. The quality of discussions you have with people depends on the ratio of these attributes. The higher the intellect, the smaller the ego, the better the discussions. And vice-versa.

Do you get me?

Are you hungry?

Hard work won’t kill you. Not unless you are sent to a Siberian labour camp. Having the wrong ideas of what work is, what work can do, what work can you do, how work should be, how much you should labour for what you are paid and what can make you rich over night? That can kill you faster than pure hard work.

Good.Old. Hard. Work. Those that grows callous on whatever you use at work? Those harden you.

How will you feed yourself?

Are you measuring the right thing?

You can sell a lot of products and yet not have a very strong brand. In fact, people may even know your name but if your brand values, beliefs and experience is not attached to your brand then you don’t have a strong brand.

It’s entirely possible that you can have strong sales and high awareness of your brand but people have absolutely no relationship with your brand. In that case, do you have a strong brand?

What’s the measure of a strong brand?

Can you crack this?

You struggle to squeeze an iota of wisdom in this existence between ignorance and arrogance. E.VERY.DAY.

Crack it and you liberate yourself.

When’s the light shining in?

Thursday, December 6, 2012

Can you cross this gap?

Crossing the gap between ignorance and knowledge is easy. See, hear, read or experience something and it strikes a chord, you learn something. You become aware.

The gap between knowledge and action, that’s more like a gorge for a lot of people. Residing in this gorge are broken dreams, mistakes, crisis, could haves, should haves, fear, delays, procrastinations, frustrations and disappointments.

Go ahead cross it. Liberation lies ahead.

How are you getting across?

Who do you think you are?

Minus all good attributes you think you have by ten times.
Multiply all bad attributes you think you have by ten times.

That would be about right.

Mileage may vary.

What have you done?

Yes you have been successful with a lot of product launches. You have many best-sellers. You should be proud.

But what have you done differently? Why is this important? Because soon your competitors will catch-up, they will learn every formula you have.

Your success formula isn’t the formula you have now. Your success formula is your ability to experiment, to take risk, to push the envelope in the early days to hone your craft.

The biggest mistake is thinking you have arrived and a wrong understanding of which is your winning formula.

What should you continue to do?
