Do you have a minute?

If you can’t find time, make it. You have heard of that term, perhaps even used it sometime in the past. “I will make time.”
If it is important enough, you will make time.

Perhaps it is time to relook into your priorities. Unless, of course, you are just addicted to living in emergencies.

What are your priorities?

Do you make things better?

You can make things better. Better processes, better products, better efficiency. But eventually, we want a better you as well. Because eventually we all live as humans and a better you will make everything better.
Did I say it well enough?

Do you welcome the grind?

The creative process needs more discipline and hard work than the free flow of thought than most people expect.
Before the bonfire is the hard knocking of two stones to generate enough sparks – not just one – to create a fire that will eventually grow.

You think it happens just by sitting there?

When is your version 2.0?

Strive to improve a little bit every chance that you have. Have some basic fundamental principles, and then find ways to improve yourself bit by bit. Not just at work, but personally too. Not just financially but spiritually too. To lead a better life means to have a better self. That you do a little every day. You can be perfect, that is asking for a miracle. But you can be better, that is impossible. We know the impossible is possible.

Is it possible?

Do you like it hard?

"Without commitment, you’ll never start, but more importantly, without consistency, you’ll never finish. It's not easy, if it was easy, there'd be no Kerry Washington. If it was easy, there'd be no Taraji P. Henson, …if it were easy, there’d be no Denzel Washington. So, keep working, keep striving. Never give up. Fall down seven times, get up eight. Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship. So keep moving, keep growing, keep learning. See you at work."

– Denzel Washington

Can you finish?

Do you know what you want?

Here is a man who knows what he wants. He put his life on it.

If you think you know what you want in life, ask yourself if you are willing to put your life on it.

Mr. Desmond Doss did.

How badly do you want it?

Are you consistent?

The journey of a thousand steps begins with the first step. But don’t forget about the 999 steps in between. Starting is tough. Consistently putting one foot after another is even tougher especially towards the end when your feet are tired.

How much energy have you got?

How do you prepare?

Be on time.
Do your homework. Read up beforehand.
Make calls.
Ask questions.
Google it up.
Make notes.
Think through the agenda.
Anticipate questions.
Get ready answers. Plan how you will pace the answers.
Role play.

I am sure you can add more to the list.

Do you even bother?

When do you pause?

If you keep talking, no one will be able to input.

Unless you think you are so smart that you don’t need to listen intently.

There is always something someone can teach you. But if you talk too much and to add to that boastful when you speak, even if someone has good intentions to help and teach you? That person will shut up.

You would have lost an opportunity to learn, to be helped.

Where is the space for others to add?

Are you willing to listen?

The willingness to change starts with the willingness to listen. To be able to listen to what others feedback to you, to be able to listen to that silent distant voice of conscience in you.
When you truly listen, the seed of change is planted.

Are you ready to change?

What is your competence?

What you are good at, what you love to do and what you do to make a living are very different things. Make sure you know the difference and do not succumb to the pressures of making them one and the same thing. When you mix them up, the chemistry changes. It might be toxic to you, even though the thought of it may be a romantic one.

Where do you find love?

Are you running out of patience?

Sometimes things just don’t work out. Plans don’t move. People don’t get persuaded by you. There is no need to be frustrated and angry.

Tell yourself, “Not today.” But that day will come. You just have to wait for it.

I learned this from an inspiring social activist – Syed Azmi – today.

When’s the day?

Would you choose what is right?

Between what is right and what is easy, always choose what is right even though it is not easy. For example, to eventually have that tough conversation you should be having with a spouse, an in-law or a colleague. Doing what is right opens up immense opportunities and frees you from the burden you are carrying. It’s not easy but immensely worth it.

Is it easy for you?

Do you respect the effort?

If you have ever learned to master something, chances are you will learn to respect the person who mastered her craft even if you do not know how to thoroughly appreciate it. Your own experience makes you appreciate the pain and mistakes it takes to get where they are now.

So when some amateur comes and insults what you have built expertise on, forget him. He knows nothing.

Have you seen the time?

How badly do you want it?

Some changes take a long time to happen. Progress can be hardly noticeable but it is there. These goals require something deep in your gut only you can find.

Who can help you?

Do you want a better plan?

  1. Write a plan.
  2. Make a decision.
  3. Execute the plan you have now.
  4. Take notes. See what worked and what didn’t work.
  5. Make another plan.
  6. Execute the plan.
  7. Take notes. See what worked and what didn’t work.
Too simple?

You have a better idea?

Wednesday, April 5, 2017

Did you do the right thing?

You won’t know until the decision (which is a moment in time), comes to fruition (which is in the future). The distance between the two points is where you need to deal with anxiety. And no matter how experienced you are, it will always be there.

Can there be no anxiety?

Do you have more ideas?

Your lake of ideas needs to be fed by the creek of thoughts and the stream of concepts. Where do all these come from? From exposure to an ocean of topics and subjects. These can be books, movies, travel and the occasional stained magazine in your dentist’s waiting room.

The more you read and experience, the more ideas you will have.

What new things did you learn recently?

Why do you have challenges?

If there are challenges in your endevours, it could very well mean that you are getting somewhere. Challenges only appear when you strive for something. It means you acted upon your plans and plans as we know are never perfect.

The internal resistance to continue will manifest and the external challenges to bar you from succeeding will manifest.

These are signs that say, “March on.”

Are you overcoming resistance?
