Would you listen more?


Whenever you hear someone quote you cases and data to help with your business, resist the urge to deflect the examples and data as not relevant to you or that they are unlike your case. Especially when they come from people with experience, more than a few cases are quoted and the data reliable. That primal reaction of being defensive will not help your cause. It doesn’t solve your challenge. Being defensive gets you no solution.

Better yet, ask better questions. Ask more about how is this relevant? Why is this similar to your case? Your end objective should be to seek to understand and solve your problem. Not win an argument but your problem unsolved.
