Every thing that your marketing department does must either get your company profits or profile your company. Never for your pleasure or theirs.
This applies to
your product portfolio as well. There must be a role for each product and SKU
that you plan to introduce. It must ideally make you more profit and profile
you at the same time. But if you need to choose one, it must make you more money
than you are making now.
