Can praise be dangerous?

Praise feels encouraging and sometimes it is. It recognises effort, reinforces standards and builds morale. But praise can also distort. It can make people perform for approval instead of purpose. It can create attachment to image rather than improvement.

Repeated praise without honest feedback produces fragility. People begin to protect identity instead of developing capability.

Encouragement matters. So does truth.

What compliment are you still living off that no longer helps you grow?
