Some agencies (or consultancies) are run on the restaurant business model. You know where you are the patron and the agency is the restaurant. You see the servicing guy or gal as the waiter. They literally wait on you and serve you what you want. Nothing wrong with that, if that is what you need and that is how they run their business.
Some other consultancies are run on a
medicine business model. You know where you are the patient and the consultancy
is the specialist doctor attending to you. Sure, you can dictate the way you
want to be treated and you can get a second opinion. But any self-respecting
doctor will always explain to you what you need, why you need it and almost
never give you what you want just
because you want it and that you are the patient. It’s professionalism.
Your duty then is to first decide if
your interest is better served as a patron or as a patient. If you decide to be
a patron, don’t worry. The restaurants will come looking for you. If you decide
to be the patient, then you need to go look for the doctor. The doctor will not pitch to you why she should treat you.
Can I get you anything else?
